The World Nuclear Association (WNA) released a white paper "Building a Stronger Tomorrow: Nuclear Power in the Post-Popular World" on July 9, outlining why nuclear projects should become part of the economic and employment recovery in the post-COVID-19 pandemic world. The white paper believes that governments of all countries have the opportunity to invest in nuclear energy to resolve the immediate crisis caused by COVID-19, and to prevent future crises by coping with larger long-term problems (such as climate change, air pollution, and energy scarcity). WNA Director General Agneta Rising said in a white paper that nuclear projects can immediately provide employment and create long-term high-value jobs, ensuring that the long-term operation of existing nuclear reactors will benefit society and the environment. The white paper calls on policy makers from various countries to: ① consider nuclear energy in any energy transition plan and formulate policies to ensure the realization of many benefits of nuclear energy; ② speed up the implementation of 108 reactors planned by governments, and ensure the long-term operation of 290 reactors that have been in operation for more than 30 years; ③Release funds by providing an appropriate framework to promote investment and provide better value for consumers.
